In San Jose, California, in March, 1989, the firm had only four sales associates, including broker-owners John Piper and Jim Hessling. A local market recession had just begun, but Jim and John were confident they could build the company into the largest residential real estate office in Santa Clara County.

Today, the company has expanded to over 120 associates with two locations, has earned the CENTURION designation every year since 1990, the Century 21 Quality Service Award, and is now one of the highest ranked companies in the Northern California Division of the Century 21 system.

Jim Hessling and John Piper had both been Century 21 sales associates since 1976 and had already earned excellent reputation in the industry and the community. John Piper had left a job as a local county program manager to enter the real estate business. Jim Hessling began his real estate career as part-time associate while attending college to pursue his business degree. Their decision to become owner of their own real estate company was prompted by a desire to pursue new challenges and control their own destinies.

Located in San Jose and Cupertino, Century 21 Champion provides a number of services to their agents. They include an extensive computer network, state-of-the-art phone system, in-house mortgage broker, farming service center with full-time graphic designers, and an all-inclusive in-house training system for all sales associates.

The most important part of Champion´s Training system is their Business Development Program which helps agents focus on how to develop their business and make it prosper. Century 21 Champion also has a highly supportive administrative staff, which includes a marketing and advertising manger, sales trainer, coach and recruitment specialist.
